Taking advantage of the pleasant spring weather, the International Office of the ELTE Gusztáv Bárczi Faculty of Special Needs Education organized a bike tour for students last week. The goal of the program was for participants to explore Budapest’s landmarks together, while also providing an opportunity to strengthen ties between international (such as those on Erasmus+ mobility) and Hungarian students.
Thanks to the route planning, the students were able to get a taste of Budapest’s cultural and architectural treasures. During the tour, they visited several key sites, including the Dohány Street Synagogue and Margaret Island. The group also visited City Park, where they toured the Museum of Ethnography, the Hungarian House of Music, and Vajdahunyad Castle. Throughout the day, they took several breaks, during which they shared meals, enjoyed coffee, and engaged in lively conversations.
The event not only offered a sightseeing experience but also served as a community-building activity. Cycling together provided an opportunity for the students to spend time together in an active and informal setting, even though many of them were meeting for the first time. For the participants, the tour provided an excellent opportunity to get to know one another, exchange experiences, and form new connections.
