Movement and dance through the regenerative power of the arts
Restorative Practices in Education through the Arts borítója

Zsuzsanna Horváth, assistant professor at the Institute of General Theory of Special Needs Education ELTE's Gusztáv Bárczi Faculty of Special Needs Education, has contributed to the literature on arts-based regenerative and restorative pedagogical practices with a new international publication.

The study was published jointly with Anikó Illés in the volume Restorative Practices in Education through the Arts under the title Building resilience through movement and dance (2025).

The publication presents an interdisciplinary approach to the role of restorative practices in education: studies by professionals working in the fields of art, art education, museum education, art therapy, special education, social work, and school psychology are woven together like a patchwork quilt.

The chapter by Zsuzsanna Horváth and Anikó Illés focuses on the connections between movement, dance, and emotional processes. The authors point out that students' resilience can be strengthened by using movement and dance as tools for self-expression and processing emotions. Particular emphasis is placed on working with students with disabilities, where movement and dance activities not only help with emotional release but also support the development of specific social skills.
