The CHARM-EU Days
The CHARM-EU Days conference was held from 23 to 24 November 2020. In the centre of the discussion was: How can the European Universities Initiative contribute to supporting the European Green Deal? The overall theme of the conference was the link between the European Universities Initiative and the European Green Deal.

CHARM-EU (CHallenge-driven, Accessible, Research-based, Mobile European University) is one of 17 alliances selected in the first call of the European Universities Initiative (a further 24 were selected this year). CHARM-EU has an ambitious mission and vision to be a pioneer and model in the European Higher Education Area and to offer a plural, inclusive, flexible, student-centred learning environment and experience.

In line with the overall agenda of the conference, on the first day, the panel discussion on mobility was organized by Katalin Anna Németh, Head of Department of Erasmus+ & International Programmes, Directorate of Educational Affairs, Eötvös Loránd University and the panel discussion on social inclusion were organized by Ágnes Sarolta Fazekas, assistant professor at Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Needs Education, Eötvös Loránd University.

The CHARM-EU WP6 Inclusiveness works in synergy with various work packages and individuals and stakeholders to safeguard that social inclusion, and diversity sits in the heart of CHARM-EU organizational culture, planning and implementation of diverse processes. In the context of the European Green Deal and the Sustainable Development Goals, Cluster3 | Inclusiveness shared and discussed policies and practices that promote the full, effective and equal participation of people with different backgrounds, life experiences and access needs, including people with disabilities.

Ágnes Sarolta Fazekas emphasized, in order ensure No One Left Behind, it is necessary to pay attention to and reflect on who is included and excluded in the discussions and negotiations on the European Green Deal and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Inclusion is a step-by-step journey. Empowering various individuals with own lived experiences, backgrounds, access needs from and working directly with them and various stakeholders in a partnership are of paramount importance for the creation of an inclusive CHARM-EU and a more inclusive European Higher Education Area.
